Rain Clouds

As sadness creeps into my life, the dark time has begun
Rain clouds feed the sodden earth and hides away the sun
Birds have no song to sing no wish fly upon the wing
Flowers lack a sweet perfume roses cannot bloom
I sing a song without a note no melody, no tune
My life is empty without you my world is cold and dark

I ponder my existence, above me a question mark
We were never together not even a might be
We leaned upon each other you were the apple on my tree
We shared our secrets hope and fears our happiness and tears
I never realized just how much your nearness meant to me

I was fine just getting old in slippers and dressing gown
But then you came along and turned my whole world upside down
Two souls drifting seeking not knowing what or why
Just knowing there was an emptiness that reached up to the sky
Now we must go our separate ways walking the unknown path

Oh how I will miss that smile of yours and your infectious laugh
And how you worked your magic on me you never did things by half
I will kiss your cheek and wish you luck with lots of joy and fun

I wave farewell the deed is done as rain clouds fade the sun
